Burntwood is a town in southern Staffordshire between Lichfield and Cannock, made up of Burntwood, Chase Terrace, Chasetown and Boney Hay. Most housing is post-war: estates from the 1950s to 80s around High Street, Cannock Road and Rugeley Road, with some older terraces near Chasetown and newer homes towards Hammerwich and Gentleshaw. RCR Connections Ltd is a plastering and rendering company based in Solihull, and we take on plastering work across Burntwood, Chase Terrace, Chasetown, Boney Hay and nearby villages.

Plastering services

Post-war estates

Much of Burntwood was built as overspill and local authority housing from the mid-20th century. Ceilings often show board-joint cracks, and walls get patched many times over the years. A full skim or over-board gives a smoother, longer-lasting finish than another quick patch. Textured ceilings from before 2000 can contain asbestos — test before sanding or scraping; over-boarding is usually the safer route.

Extensions and loft conversions

Plenty of semis here are being extended or converted into the loft. We board and skim new rooms, including sloping ceilings and dormers, once the builder has finished and building control has inspected. If boarding is already done, we can skim only.

Chase Terrace and Chasetown

Chase Terrace and Chasetown have a similar mix of post-war semis and some older terraces. The same plastering jobs come up regularly: ceilings, skims after decorating prep, and making good after plumbing or electrical work. Boney Hay and Hammerwich add bungalows and larger detached homes on the edge of Cannock Chase.

Getting the room ready

Clear the room or move furniture to the middle, take down curtains and pictures, and have an electrician loosen sockets and switches. We bring dust sheets and protect floors and stairs.

How a job works

  1. WhatsApp photos and rough room sizes to 07453 614095.
  2. We send a guide price and visit if needed.
  3. We protect your home, plaster and tidy up.
  4. You get drying and mist coat advice.

Drying and painting

A skim needs a few days to dry. Keep the room ventilated and use a mist coat of watered-down contract matt first.
