Atherstone is a market town in North Warwickshire on the A5, between Nuneaton and Tamworth. The historic centre around Long Street and Market Place has Georgian and Victorian buildings, while most housing is inter-war and post-war semis and terraces in Merevale, Carlyon and Greendale, with newer homes towards Mancetter and Witherley. Nearby villages include Mancetter, Hartshill, Ansley, Baddesley Ensor and Polesworth. RCR Connections Ltd is a plastering and rendering company based in Solihull, and we take on plastering work across Atherstone and these villages.
Plastering services in Atherstone
- Skimming walls and ceilings ready to decorate.
- Re-plastering after damp, rewiring or when plaster has blown.
- Ceilings: over-boarding cracked, sagging or Artex ceilings.
- Plasterboard for extensions, loft rooms and garage conversions.
- Patch repairs that blend into existing walls.
Older town-centre homes
Long Street and the roads off Market Place include solid-walled Georgian and Victorian properties. Plaster there can be uneven after decades of patching, and lower walls sometimes show salt staining where damp has got in. The cause should be fixed before re-plastering. If a damp specialist has specified a plaster system, we follow it so their guarantee stays valid. Breathable finishes suit solid brick and stone better than hard gypsum in some cases, and we’ll say so honestly if your job needs a lime specialist.
Inter-war and post-war semis
Most Atherstone homes date from the 1920s onwards. Common jobs are over-boarding tired ceilings, skimming after old wallpaper comes off, making good after a rewire, and boarding and skimming rear extensions or loft conversions. Textured ceilings from before 2000 can contain asbestos, so have them tested before anyone sands or scrapes them. Over-boarding and skimming usually leaves them sealed safely in place.
Villages around Atherstone
We cover Mancetter, Hartshill, Ansley, Baddesley Ensor, Baxterley, Grendon, Witherley and Polesworth. Hartshill and Ansley have a mix of older cottages and post-war estates; Polesworth and Grendon sit towards Tamworth with plenty of 1960s and 70s semis that often need ceiling and extension work.
Getting the room ready
- Clear the room or move furniture to the middle.
- Take down curtains, pictures and shelves.
- Have an electrician loosen sockets and switches.
- Let us know where we can park and mix — Long Street parking can be tight.
How a job works
- WhatsApp photos and rough room sizes to 07453 614095.
- We send a guide price and visit if needed.
- We protect floors, stairs and furniture, then plaster.
- You get drying and mist coat advice, and the room is left tidy.
Drying and painting
A skim needs a few days to dry, and backing coats longer. Keep the room ventilated, don’t force-dry with heaters, and use a mist coat of watered-down contract matt first.
Planning and rendering
Atherstone is covered by North Warwickshire Borough Council. Parts of the town centre are in a conservation area. We also apply sand and cement, silicone, K-Rend/monocouche and insulated render (EWI). See our K-Rend and monocouche page and rendering in Tamworth.
