Leamington Spa is known for its Regency terraces and villas, with tall ceilings, cornicing and stucco fronts around the Parade, Clarendon Square, Binswood Avenue and the Old Town south of the river. Beyond the centre, Milverton, Lillington, Whitnash, Sydenham and Campion Hills have a mix of Victorian, inter-war and post-war homes. RCR Connections Ltd is a plastering and rendering company based in Solihull, and we take on plastering work across Leamington, Whitnash and Cubbington.

Regency and Victorian homes
High ceilings and decorative cornicing need care. We protect existing features and work around them. Many of Leamington’s period homes have been converted into flats, and we can board and skim between units as part of a refurb. Large parts of central Leamington are a conservation area under Warwick District Council, and many buildings are listed, so check with the council before changing external finishes or original features.
Rented and student properties
Leamington has a lot of rented housing. Between tenancies, landlords often need patch repairs, skimming over damaged walls or ceiling repairs done quickly so the property can be decorated. We work Monday to Friday and can quote from photos.
What to expect
Floors and furniture are protected, surfaces are prepared, and the room is swept when we finish. A skim usually needs a few days to dry before a mist coat.
Rendering and stucco-style finishes
For outside walls we apply sand and cement, silicone, K-Rend/monocouche and insulated render (EWI). See our K-Rend and monocouche page and rendering in Solihull.
Areas of Leamington we cover
We cover the town centre and the Parade, Clarendon and Binswood, the Old Town south of the river, Milverton, Lillington, Cubbington, Campion Hills, Sydenham, Whitnash and Warwick Gates, along with nearby villages such as Radford Semele, Bishop’s Tachbrook and Offchurch.
Working with high ceilings and cornicing
Regency and Victorian rooms in Leamington often have ceilings well over three metres high. Plastering at that height needs proper access, normally a stable platform or scaffold tower, so we’ll plan for that when we quote. Decorative cornices and ceiling roses are part of the character of these homes. Where a ceiling needs work, we mask and protect them, and can skim up to them neatly. Repairing or recreating original run-in-situ cornicing is specialist fibrous plaster work, and if your job needs that, we’ll tell you so rather than guess.
Flat conversions and HMOs
Many larger Leamington houses are divided into flats or let as shared houses. Refurbishing these often means boarding new partitions, re-boarding ceilings for fire separation, and skimming throughout. Building control may require specific fire-rated or sound-rated plasterboard between flats. We’ll fit whatever board type is specified on your drawings or by building control.
Mist coats on new plaster
The first coat of paint on fresh plaster should be a mist coat: a watered-down trade emulsion that soaks in and seals the surface. Vinyl or wipeable paints on new plaster tend to peel. Ask your decorator to use a contract matt for the first coat.
