Copt Heath is a small, leafy area between Solihull and Knowle, around Warwick Road, Lugtrout Lane, Grove Road and the roads near Copt Heath Golf Club and junction 5 of the M42. Housing here is mostly large detached homes from the inter-war and post-war years, many of them extended and remodelled, plus some newer executive houses and a few older cottages on the lanes towards Hampton-in-Arden. RCR Connections Ltd is a plastering and rendering company based in Solihull, so Copt Heath is just down the road. We also cover nearby Knowle, Bentley Heath, Catherine-de-Barnes and Widney Manor.

Plastering services in Copt Heath

Larger homes and whole-house refurbishments

Many Copt Heath houses are large and have been extended more than once. When a house is renovated throughout, plastering usually comes after first-fix electrics and plumbing and before kitchens, joinery and flooring. We can work room by room or floor by floor to fit around your other trades and around living in the house, and we’ll agree the order with you or your builder up front.

Big open-plan rooms and high ceilings

Large kitchen-diners and vaulted extensions show every imperfection, especially under spotlights or long windows that throw light along the wall. On big ceilings we board with screws at the right spacing, tape every joint, and skim in one continuous pass where possible so there are no visible lines. Bigger ceilings need proper access, so we’ll plan for a platform or tower where needed.

Textured ceilings

Some older Copt Heath homes still have Artex. Textured coatings from before 2000 can contain asbestos, so have them tested before anyone sands or scrapes. Over-boarding and skimming usually leaves them safely sealed in.

How a job works

  1. Photos first. WhatsApp photos and rough room sizes to 07453 614095.
  2. Guide price. We reply with a guide price and visit if needed.
  3. Protection. Floors, stairs and furniture are covered before we start.
  4. Plastering. Surfaces are prepared and bonded properly.
  5. Tidy finish. Waste is removed and you get drying and mist coat advice.

Drying and decorating

A skim needs a few days to dry, and backing coats longer. Keep rooms ventilated and avoid forcing the drying with heaters, as that can cause cracks. Use a mist coat of watered-down contract matt as the first coat of paint.
