The historic city centre
Lichfield city centre is a conservation area with many listed buildings, especially around the Cathedral Close. Lichfield District Council handles planning and listed building consent. Older buildings here were usually lime plastered and need breathable materials. We’ll be honest if your home needs a lime specialist rather than standard plastering.
Boley Park, Darwin Park and newer estates
Lichfield’s newer estates are built with plasterboard throughout. Typical jobs are fixing cracks along joints and nail pops after the house has settled, repairing damaged walls, and boarding and skimming extensions, garage conversions and loft rooms. On homes still under a builder’s warranty, check with the builder first.
Post-war homes
On 1960s and 70s houses around Lichfield, textured ceilings are common. Artex applied before 2000 can contain asbestos, so it should be tested before anyone sands or scrapes it. Over-boarding and skimming avoids disturbing it.

Allow a few days for a skim, longer for thicker coats. Use a mist coat of watered-down contract matt before your main colour.
