Warwick’s town centre is full of history, with medieval, Georgian and Victorian buildings around the castle, Smith Street, Jury Street and the Market Place. Further out, Woodloes Park, Forbes, Myton, Chase Meadow and Warwick Gates are mostly 1970s onwards, with a lot of newer housing towards Heathcote. RCR Connections Ltd is a Solihull-based plastering and rendering company, and we take on plastering work across Warwick and nearby villages such as Hampton Magna, Budbrooke, Barford and Sherbourne.

Plastering services

Period buildings and conservation areas

Much of central Warwick is a conservation area and there are many listed buildings. Warwick District Council handles planning and listed building consent. On older solid-walled buildings, the wrong plaster can trap moisture, so we’ll assess what’s there and give you an honest view, including when a specialist lime plasterer would be the better fit.

Newer homes in Chase Meadow and Warwick Gates

Homes built in the last 25 years are usually plasterboard throughout. Common jobs are repairing cracks and nail pops, skimming over damaged boards, and boarding out garage conversions or loft rooms.

Areas of Warwick we cover

We work in central Warwick (Smith Street, West Street, Saltisford and Emscote), Woodloes Park, Packmores, Forbes, Myton, Chase Meadow, Warwick Gates, Heathcote and Hampton Magna. We also cover villages including Barford, Sherbourne, Wasperton, Hatton, Hampton on the Hill, Norton Lindsey and Budbrooke.

Breathable walls in older buildings

Older brick and stone buildings were built to let moisture move through the wall and evaporate. Covering them with modern cement render or impermeable plaster can trap that moisture, leading to damp patches and flaking paint. In Warwick, with so many buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, it’s worth getting this right. If your walls were originally lime plastered, we’ll tell you honestly whether repairing in lime is the better route, and whether a lime specialist would be best for the job. For listed buildings, Warwick District Council will usually need to approve changes to original finishes.

New-build snagging

Homes in Chase Meadow, Warwick Gates and the newer developments around Heathcote often develop small cracks in the first couple of years as the building dries out and settles. Common signs are cracks along plasterboard joints, around door frames and at the junction between walls and ceilings, plus ‘nail pops’. Once the house has settled, these can be raked out, filled, taped and skimmed where needed. If your home is still under a builder’s warranty, check with them first, as they may cover it.
