Kineton is a rural village in south Warwickshire, below Edgehill, with a historic centre of stone and brick cottages around Banbury Street, Bridge Street and the church of St Peter, and post-war and newer homes on the edges of the village. Nearby are Lighthorne, Lighthorne Heath, Gaydon, Combrook, Butlers Marston and Radway. RCR Connections Ltd is a plastering and rendering company based in Solihull, and we take on plastering work in Kineton and the surrounding villages.

Plastering services

Stone cottages and breathable walls

Kineton’s older cottages are built from local stone, including the golden Hornton ironstone found around Edgehill, and brick. Solid walls like these need to breathe, so moisture can escape. Covering them in modern gypsum plaster or cement can trap that moisture and cause damp patches and flaking. If your cottage was originally lime plastered, we’ll give you an honest view on whether a lime specialist is the right choice for the job rather than guessing.

Conservation area and listed buildings

Kineton has a conservation area covering much of the village centre, and there are listed buildings in the village and nearby. Stratford-on-Avon District Council handles planning and listed building consent. Check with the council before changing finishes on a listed home or the outside of a house in the conservation area.

Newer homes

On the post-war and modern houses around the village, and on the new homes around Lighthorne Heath, the usual jobs are skimming tired walls, over-boarding ceilings, fixing cracks and nail pops, and boarding extensions and garage conversions.

Getting a price for a rural job

Because Kineton is a drive from our Solihull base, photos really help. WhatsApp pictures of each wall or ceiling, rough sizes and what you want done to 07453 614095. We’ll give you a guide price and, if the job goes ahead, plan the work in sensible blocks so the travel is used efficiently.

How a job works

  1. Photos and a guide price.
  2. A visit if needed to check the walls.
  3. Protection of floors and furniture.
  4. Plastering and a full clean-up, with aftercare advice.

Drying and painting

Allow a few days for a skim and longer for backing coats. Older stone cottages can take longer to dry in winter. Use a mist coat first.

Rendering

We also apply sand and cement, silicone, K-Rend/monocouche and insulated render (EWI) on suitable walls. See our K-Rend and monocouche page, rendering in Solihull, and our Stratford-upon-Avon rendering page.

Villages around Kineton

We cover Kineton, Lighthorne, Lighthorne Heath, Gaydon, Combrook, Butlers Marston, Radway, Pillerton Hersey and Wellesbourne. Several of these villages have their own conservation areas, so it’s worth checking with Stratford-on-Avon District Council if your home is in an older part of the village. If you’re near the Edgehill escarpment, expect walls to take more wind and rain.
