Coleshill is a small market town in North Warwickshire, just east of Birmingham and close to the M6, M42 and Birmingham Airport. Its historic High Street has Georgian and timber-framed buildings around the church of St Peter and St Paul, while the rest of the town has inter-war, post-war and modern homes around Coventry Road, Birmingham Road and Blythe Road. Nearby are Water Orton, Shustoke, Maxstoke, Fillongley, Curdworth and Kingsbury. RCR Connections Ltd is a plastering and rendering company based in Solihull, a short drive away, and we take on plastering work across Coleshill and these villages.

Plastering services

The High Street and conservation area

Coleshill’s town centre is a conservation area with many listed buildings. North Warwickshire Borough Council handles planning and listed building consent. Older solid-walled buildings usually need breathable lime finishes. We’ll check what’s there and be honest about whether the job suits us or a lime specialist.

Post-war and modern homes

Most Coleshill homes date from the 1950s onwards. Common jobs include over-boarding Artex or cracked ceilings, skimming tired walls, making good after rewires, and boarding and skimming rear extensions, garage conversions and loft rooms. Textured ceilings from before 2000 can contain asbestos, so have them tested before anyone sands or scrapes them.

Water Orton and nearby villages

Water Orton has many inter-war and post-war semis, and the same jobs come up there regularly. In Shustoke, Maxstoke and Fillongley, there are older cottages and farmhouses where extensions need plastering to sit well with the original house.

Getting the room ready

How a job works

  1. WhatsApp photos and rough room sizes to 07453 614095.
  2. We send a guide price and visit if needed.
  3. We protect your home, plaster and tidy up.
  4. You get advice on drying and mist coats.

Drying and painting

A skim needs a few days to dry, and thicker coats longer. Keep the room ventilated and use a mist coat of watered-down contract matt first.

Rendering in Coleshill

We also apply sand and cement, silicone, K-Rend/monocouche and insulated render (EWI). See our K-Rend and monocouche page and rendering in Solihull.

Cracks: what’s normal

Fine hairline cracks in plaster are common and usually come from small seasonal movement. Wider cracks, cracks that keep coming back, or diagonal ones from window and door corners can point to structural movement, and a surveyor should look first. We’ll tell you if we think that’s needed.
