Wythall sits just south of Solihull and Shirley, on the edge of Worcestershire, with Hollywood, Majors Green, Drakes Cross and Tidbury Green close by. Housing is mostly inter-war and post-war semis along Alcester Road and Station Road, bungalows and 1960s–80s estates off Dickens Heath Road and Lea Green Lane, and newer homes towards Tidbury Green and Dickens Heath. RCR Connections Ltd is based in Solihull, so Wythall is a short local trip for us, and we take on plastering across Wythall, Hollywood, Majors Green and Tidbury Green.
Plastering services
- Skimming walls and ceilings ready to decorate.
- Re-plastering after damp, rewiring or blown plaster.
- Ceilings: over-boarding cracked or textured ceilings.
- Plasterboard for extensions, loft conversions and garage conversions.
- Patch repairs that blend into existing walls.
Semis and bungalows
Wythall and Hollywood have many 1930s to 1970s semis and bungalows. Common jobs are over-boarding original ceilings, skimming after wallpaper comes off, making good after a rewire, and boarding rear extensions. Bungalows often get loft conversions; we board and skim sloping ceilings and dormers once the structure and insulation are signed off.
Newer homes near Dickens Heath
Towards Tidbury Green and Dickens Heath, homes are mostly modern plasterboard construction. Work there is usually boarding out a garage conversion or extension, or repairing nail pops and joint cracks before decoration. Garage conversions are popular, and we can skim once the builder has boarded or board and skim from scratch.
Planning
Wythall and Hollywood are in Bromsgrove District; Tidbury Green and Dickens Heath are in Solihull. Re-rendering and external changes may need a quick check with the right council if you’re in a sensitive spot, but interior plastering usually does not.
Getting the room ready
- Clear the room or move furniture to the middle.
- Take down curtains, pictures and shelves.
- Have an electrician loosen sockets and switches.
